ah, april! — or, as we used to
call it, “may”; or rather, april running a good 10 degrees > norm; or: spring coming 2-3 wks earlier than once upon a time -- just enjoy the easter-egg- colored flowers, cheesy peep- tinted resurrections w/no water in the air: the shadows go straight down; but no “shoures soote” ‘round here, where dessication perces to the rootes . . . “we had to dismantle the roof. we went out through the back door and pulled ourselves out with a rope” (sez agustina luruk, survivor of cyclone that killed 100+ humans in e. timor & indonesia this weekend) "forest fires have increased in the last one week because of strong winds and no rainfall. it is also due to the rise in temperature with less rainfall and snowfall during the winters” (sez the forester in uttarakhand, as 39 new forest fires fire up over 48 hrs; 3200 acres charred) & the arctic ocean is now just another ocean: mostly ice-free; so the russians are beefing up their military there: they got ‘em this nuke-powered torpedo, see, that’s supposed to explode a nuke warhead underwater & cause a nuke-ulur tsunami all along the east coast; and china is betting big on a year-round arctic-ocean sea-route & will probably win that bet meanwhile, records keep setting: mercury hit 111 f earlier than ever in the u.a.e.; & it’s in the 110s in telangana, too; why? who’s to say, really — but i notice that co2 hit 421.21 ppm on sat., highest ever on planet earth since humans have recorded it (really since humans have been around) other than that, it’s just a bunch of long-term trends & animal stuff so i think i’ll go for a walk in the lovely early april sun (85 f), admiring the flowers before their expiration date
