ah, april! — or, as we used to
call it, “may”; or rather, april running a good 10 degrees > norm; or: spring coming 2-3 wks earlier than once upon a time -- just enjoy the easter-egg- colored flowers, cheesy peep- tinted resurrections w/no water in the air: the shadows go straight down; but no “shoures soote” ‘round here, where dessication perces to the rootes . . . “we had to dismantle the roof. we went out through the back door and pulled ourselves out with a rope” (sez agustina luruk, survivor of cyclone that killed 100+ humans in e. timor & indonesia this weekend) "forest fires have increased in the last one week because of strong winds and no rainfall. it is also due to the rise in temperature with less rainfall and snowfall during the winters” (sez the forester in uttarakhand, as 39 new forest fires fire up over 48 hrs; 3200 acres charred) & the arctic ocean is now just another ocean: mostly ice-free; so the russians are beefing up their military there: they got ‘em this nuke-powered torpedo, see, that’s supposed to explode a nuke warhead underwater & cause a nuke-ulur tsunami all along the east coast; and china is betting big on a year-round arctic-ocean sea-route & will probably win that bet meanwhile, records keep setting: mercury hit 111 f earlier than ever in the u.a.e.; & it’s in the 110s in telangana, too; why? who’s to say, really — but i notice that co2 hit 421.21 ppm on sat., highest ever on planet earth since humans have recorded it (really since humans have been around) other than that, it’s just a bunch of long-term trends & animal stuff so i think i’ll go for a walk in the lovely early april sun (85 f), admiring the flowers before their expiration date

Smoke from forest fires fill valleys in Nepal; Kathmandu at lower left. Credit: European Union, Copernicus Sentinel-2 imagery yesterday, world leaders acted,
finally, appropriating trillions of $$$ towards rapid switch- over to renewable energy, financed by heavy taxes on the largest, most powerful multinational corporations . . . belated april fool’s! but now april fool’s day is over, and we’re left with just the fools who are in charge of everything who may bear some responsibility for the record march hi temps around the world: london marked 76 nederland recorded 79 germany notched a record 81 f france did, too spain (badajoz) topped 90 chennai was 106 oman hit 109 s.w. mexico got hot as 113, w/dust storms, to boot; & beijing still suffocating in sand & dust blown in from the north -- air quality in worst category (but earliest cherry blossoms in kyoto in 1200 years!) & more fires alight: that massive one in madhya pradesh, in the tiger preserve? 40 sq mi charred as of wed.; while kathmandu chokes in smoke: over 500 forest fires across nepal major roads in n.s.w. cracked & racked by recent floods -- 100s of millions more $$$ needed now; new locust plague, this time s. iran . . . there is not pattern here -- these phenomena are un- related. this verse-chronicle suffers from pareidolia or jokes at yr expense. this verse chronicle is drowning in fools |
