most important news appears in the “briefly” section at the bottom of page 6: “trump deploys more agents under ‘law-and-order’ push” (i think they meant ‘putsch’); “u.s. contracts pfizer for virus vaccine doses” — purely on spec: $2 b for a med that hasn’t happened yet; “1st hurricane of eastern pacific season takes shape” (now that the dust/sand plume from the sahara dissipated) & jesus said: “consider the lilies of the field & the birds of the air: you aren’t a bit like them at all. no, you know what you are? you’re like kids fighting in the backseat, as the car goes over the cliff. that’s what you’re like.” it’s looking like doubling co2 from preindustrial levels means (min.) twice as much heat as they thot: 4.1 - 8.1 f -- and: we’re already halfway to doubling -- and: accelerating geometrically (& the eyes glaze over: it’s numbers & chemicals: & the eyes have it) but this is really all you need to know on earth, which turns out to be the only place you can know it. other than that, mr. & mrs. america & all the ships at sea . . . item: this week the forecast for siberia = the forecast for kansas. lit’rally the same: highs in 90s; lows, upper 60s (f). item: the “hog fire” in lassen co, calif. (9420 acres as of wed.) makes its own thunderstorms ("pyrocumulonimbus" clouds), complete w/hail; which is good, b/c it rains water; but bad, b/c . . . well, it’s a fire. And it's still burning item: 7th named storm this season (this usually happens ~ 9/16) item: another round of rain in china another heat wave, too (100+); plus, flash: 3 gorges dam at 162 m (built to hold 145): it has “deformed slightly,” officials say i won’t run down all the records broken or tied since tuesday, or all the countries flooding around the indian ocean basin — b/c that really would be a “catalog of ships” . . . but i can imagine jesus looking down, thinking, “jesus! what are they thinking??” & jesus, as we know, wept.

I'm a writer & teacher in Lawrence, Kansas who actually believes the scientists. I wrote a book of poems called Of Some Sky that seems to have something to do with all this. |
